Nanno Kleiterp - fmo

Nanno Kleiterp is CEO of FMO and Chairman of the Management Board since October 2008. FMO is one of the largest bilateral development banks and member of the Association of European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI). Nanno Kleiterp is member of Board of Directors of EDFI. Before he was appointed as CEO, he was responsible for FMO’s risk-bearing profile as Chief Investment Officer from 2000. From 1987–2000, he held a number of positions within FMO, including Chief Finance Office, Regional Manager Latin America and Manager Small Enterprises Fund. Prior to FMO Nanno Kleiterp worked almost 10 years in Latin America. From 1983 to 1987 he worked for the Nicaraguan Development Bank (Fondo Nicaraguense de Inversiones, FNI)) as special advisor for investment policies. Earlier in his career he worked in rural development and credit programs for small rural producers in Mexico and Peru. Nanno Kleiterp studies sociological economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Groningen and graduated in 1979. He is vice chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Royal Dutch Tuberculoses Foundation and member of the supervisory board of de Waal Foundation. Nanno Kleiterp is married and has two children.

 

Tsakhiagiin ELBEGDORJ, President of Mongolia

 Tsakhiagiin ELBEGDORJ is President of Mongolia and was sworn into office on June 18, 2009. He had previously served two terms as Prime Minister and held the positions of Deputy Speaker and Majority Leader in Parliament.

President Elbegdorj was born in Zereg Sum of Khovd province in Mongolia on March 8, 1963. He and his wife Bolormaa Khadjidsuren have 5 children and are foster parents to 20 orphans. Elbegdorj holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government (2002) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from Land Forces Military Academy, Lviv, former USSR (1988).

His priorities – promoting the rule of law, fostering social justice, fighting poverty and inequality, combating corruption and supporting direct participatory democracy – have won him widespread praise and acclaim, most recently from the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, during her visit to Ulaanbaatar on July 9, 2012.

Raised close to nature as a nomad, President Elbegdorj actively speaks out for environmental conservation thus he has set forth environmental protection as one of his core presidential policies. He was recently awarded a Champion of the Earth award from the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Dr.Oyun Sanjaasuren - Minister of Environment and Green Development

Minister of Environment and Green Development, Board member of the Zorig Foundation, has been an opposition Member of the Mongolian Parliament since 1998 and leader of the Civil Will Party since 2000 until the present. She was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008 and has been a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum since 2003. Currently she serves as member of the Standing Committee on Security and Foreign Policy and member of the Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science. Dr. Oyun was the first Mongolian to earn a Ph.D. (in geology) from a British university (Cambridge) and to work for a large multinational company (Rio Tinto mining).

 

Randolph Koppa - Trade and Development Bank

Mr. Randolph S. Koppa was appointed as the President of the RGB in July 2007. He was first appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Bank in October 2004 and President in July 2007. He has held various management positions at financial institutions in 12 different countries during his 45-year career in banking, including 16 years at ING Bank N.V.. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Andre Abadie - JP Morgan

André is Managing Director and head of Environmental and Social Risk Management at J.P.Morgan in London, where he guides the assessment of environmental and social issues associated with a broad range of banking transactions.

André was previously Director at Sustainable Finance Ltd., focusing on the delivery of environmental and social risk management services to the financial sector. Prior to joining Sustainable Finance, André was head of Sustainable Business Advisory within ABN AMRO Bank's risk management division in Amsterdam, where he co-authored the Equator Principles and led the implementation efforts within ABN AMRO.

André recently chaired the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Forum, a multi-stakeholder initiative of the International Hydropower Association, which proposed revisions to the industry's sustainability protocol.

André holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, a Masters Degree in Corporate Law, and an Advanced Diploma in Sustainability.

 

 

Cameron McRae - Oyu Tolgoi

Cameron McRae joined Oyu Tolgoi in December 2010. He is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Oyu Tolgoi and Rio Tinto’s Country Director for Mongolia. He is a Board Director of Oyu Tolgoi LLC and his responsibilities cover all aspects of the Oyu Tolgoi business.

Cameron has 31 years mining industry experience, living and working in six countries. Prior to joining Oyu Tolgoi, he was Managing Director of Richards Bay Minerals in South Africa and Murowa Diamonds in Zimbabwe. Cameron has held leadership positions in major business units within Rio Tinto including Energy, Copper, Diamonds and Industrial Minerals as well as working at Corporate level. He established Rio Tinto Energy’s presence in China, he led the first strategic review of IS&T across Rio Tinto and led the strategic review of Rio Tinto’s approach to Africa in 2010. He was also centrally involved in the landmark merger of RTZ plc and CRA Ltd which created the Rio Tinto Group. Cameron has also led several successful M&A transactions. Cameron holds a commerce degree and MBA.

Bold Magvan - Mongolia Bankers Association

Bold is the President of Mongolian Bankers Association since 2011 after serving as Vice President for 2 years. He is also a Chairman of the Board of the Credit Information Bureau LLC. Bold is the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Iceland in Mongolia since 2008. 

He is a senior banking professional with more than 20-year expertise in public and private, global financial institutions, including the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Bold is a graduate in international economics from the Budapest University of Economics, Hungary. He also holds a Master’s in International Affairs degree with a major in economic policy management from the Columbia University, New York, USA.

- Bold’s career experience includes four years at the Bank of Mongolia (Central Bank) in the top management position of the Deputy Governor (1996-2000)
- His prior professional career accomplishments include that of Deputy Director at the Market Research Institute (1989-1992)
- Economist-accountant in the Trade and Development Bank, and ITI Bank (1991,1993), CEO of the Mongolian Export-Import Bank (1995-1996)
- Board member of the International Investment Bank and the International Bank for Economic Cooperation in the Russian Federation (1996-2000)
- Advisor for Da Afghanistan Bank (Central Bank), Islamic State of Afghanistan (2003-2004)
- Bold has been CEO of TenGer Financial Group since January 2011. Before, Bold worked for XacBank for 2 years as the CEO and for over 3 years as the President.

Dagva Gankhuyag - NewCom (Clean Energy)

Mr. Gankhuyag is currently the Director of Infrastructure & Energy. He joined NEWCOM GROUP in December 2005 as a project staff. He has served in different capacities since then including the positions of project manager and departmental manager. He is in charge of new businesses & on-going projects related to energy & infrastructure industry, which is being implemented by the Business Development Department of NEWCOM LLC. Between 2006 -2011, he was project leader for the Salkhit wind park project, which is the first renewable energy generator to be connected with the national grid. It is also the first IPP in the country. Through this project, Mr Gankhuyag has gained substantial experience in infrastructure project management in terms of financial, commercial, legal and contractual, technical expertise. He is currently leading the CHP 5 project from Newcom side, which is a highly prioritized initiative by the Government of Mongolia.

Tuyen Nguyen - IFC

Tuyen is the IFC Resident Representative for Mongolia based in Ulaanbaatar. Tuyen joined IFC in 2006, starting in Hanoi, Vietnam and was most recently the IFC Head of Office for Ho Chi Minh City where he also led investments for its Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) department in the Mekong (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam).  Prior to IFC, Tuyen worked in the private sector unit of the Asian Development Bank, based in Manila, covering investments in financial institutions throughout Asia. He holds a BA from Yale, and an MA-MBA from the SAIS-Wharton program.

Ms. Biying Lu - China Industrial Bank

Lu Biying, Senior vice Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility Division, Legal & Compliance Department, Industrial Bank Co. Ltd, China 

Ms. Lu Biying graduated with a Master degree in Law from China University of Political Science and Law, whose major was International Private Law during the post-graduate studies. She is the Senior Vice Manager in charge of S Corporate Social Responsibility Division of Industrial Bank Co. Ltd,China. Ms. Lu is responsible for corporate social responsibility management as well as the environmental & social risks management, including internal polices development, systems and process updating and improving, stakeholder engagement and external communication. In particular, she has lead the team to integrate the Equator Principles into bank’s internal policies and systems, develop internal E&S risk management policy and facilitate implementation throughout bank’s system in the past five years. She has gained strong practical experience in managing and implementing in the areas of legal affairs, risk management, compliance management and SCR management as she has been working in Risk Management Department, Legal Affairs Division and System Management Division of Legal and Compliance Department in headquarter of Industrial Bank. Co. Ltd,Chinafor more than 10 years.
